Life Cycle

Having both 1Des and DesSoft P&ID makes your life as an engineer easy; our systems are built with relational Database therefore any changes have to be made in only one place and all related components and documents will be updated. This means if a change is made within 1Des, maybe the tag number was changed and saved in the database, that change would be applied to all relevant documents, including P&ID drawings. Henceforth if you update P&ID it will automatically update related 1Des drawings.

Keeping the plant documents up to date:

It is proven that the software is actively used by Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC)for all their projects, but to keep the drawing system effective for the Owner Operator (OP), 1Des provides an intelligent red-lining capability that not only gives the user the option to red-line the document when viewing from the SCADA, if there were changes made during a call-out, etc, but when red-lined it will also flag the database so that inside the 1Des application all red-lined documents are clearly marked and the database can then easily be maintained.

Integration to SCADA systems: Questions and Answers

•Question:

The question is if such a system can also be used after the design phase, is there a requirement for such an OP's, the company that the design has been done for by the EPC?

•Answer:

The answer is yes; with 1Des the developers have taken one step further so that all the information does not became just another “dead” database record. Except for the intelligent redlining that completes the document life cycle as mentioned above, 1Des is also providing tools so that the PLC / DCS systems can inherit the information inside the database, but not only that, for example for the Unity software of Schneider Electric, can 1Des generate the XPG program for the digital, analogue, motor drive, etc, blocks from standard code templates for the different PLC’s for all the tags created in 1Des. Other PLC interfaces are Allen Bradley L5K builder and Mitsubishi.

•Question:

Further does 1Des also provide a tool that would, for example, create a SCADA import ready file with user defined blocks or templates?

•Answer:

Again the answer is YES, Not only creating the Galaxy ready import file that builds the ArchestrA graphics and functions but when this information is then deployed to the SCADA system, the plant drawings generated by 1Des, can be previewed directly from the SCADA when clicking, for example, on a valve that does not want to open. The loop drawing can be opened and fault finding can be done immediately and accurately. This has a huge financial benefit of less plant downtime on call-outs, breakdowns, etc. Again the intelligent redlining is available from the SCADA to maintain these documents. Other interfaces to SCADA systems are the ADROIT agent builder as well as the Unity UAG builder for Schneider's CITECT.
